The long-awaited sequel to Happy Gilmore is finally on its way! Fans of Adam Sandler’s 1996 golf comedy can mark their calendars for Happy Gilmore 2, which will premiere on Netflix on July 25.
The newly released trailer brings back Sandler as the hot-tempered former hockey player-turned-golf sensation, who now faces the challenge of reclaiming his place on the green after years away from the sport.
“I haven’t swung a club in years,” Gilmore admits in the trailer. “I don’t know where to start.” But with encouragement from his longtime love interest, Virginia Venit (played by returning star Julie Bowen), and a few unexpected allies—including Bad Bunny—the golf legend gears up for another wild ride.
The sequel is packed with nostalgia, featuring returning cast members like Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin and Ben Stiller as the infamous nursing home orderly. It also boasts cameo appearances from pro golfers John Daly, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Bryson DeChambeau, adding to the film’s authenticity and excitement.
Behind the Scenes: How ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Came to Life
The sequel has been in the works for some time, with Sandler and his longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy crafting the script. Sandler confirmed in early 2024 that they were determined to create a sequel that lives up to the original’s legacy.
“We love Happy Gilmore. We don’t want to let anybody down,” Sandler shared. “Fans have been asking for this for years, and we’re working hard to make sure it delivers.”
The film will also pay tribute to original cast members Bob Barker, Carl Weathers, and Joe Flaherty, who have since passed away.
A Star-Studded Lineup
In addition to Sandler and the returning cast, Happy Gilmore 2 features an exciting mix of new faces, including:
- Bad Bunny (Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio)
- NFL star Travis Kelce
- Pro wrestlers Maxwell Jacob Friedman & Ethan Cutowsky
- Golf influencers Paige Spiranac & Brooks Koepka
